So lets take it up where we left it, the Pyramidema. We made there a big or little mistake it all depends how you will view it. The big mistake was that we went straight for Lunndorrsstugorna and didn't spend time walking around the Issjodalen. The positive side is that we have a good reason to go back someday.

We camped near Lunndorrsstugorna and when we waked up the weather wasn't too nice, still a bit tired from the trip we decided to take it easy, sleep a bit longer and made it a nice relaxing day. Later that day it still rained and we where tired of hanging around and went out for a walk. We left the tent and most of our gear behind a walked to the Lunndortspasset. Half way the river and the track became one and where there should be a bridge only part of the foundation remained.

So we returned too the cabin at Lunndorrsstugorna bought some thing to eat and drink a talked with the host and enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace. Later that afternoon the weather changed and it became dry. To dry our wet clothes and shoes I build a fire. I was quite a challenge but fortunately there where some fire trees that kept there lower branches dry and fire lighting became a lot easier. Didn't use the stove did it Ray Mears style wicked!.

Later that evening we enjoyed a some very nice skies

The following morning the weather was nice again and we packed our gear and we decided to go to Valastugerna. Witch was a nice and very diverse walk. Some times I got the feeling I was walking somewhere much more remote, like Alaska. I have never bin there but it was how I imagined it.

I was a very nice walk with big rivers to cross and after some climbing we reached some alpine grounds with where truly beautiful.

And there we say our first Reindeer and we made hundreds of pictures of it fare away not realizing that in the days that followed, we saw much more Reindeers and even closer. We even had one on our plates in Helags!

That night we camped near the river just before Vålåstugan. We went for a very cold but refreshing swim and warmed our self’s by the fire.

The following day we went to Vålåstugan a horribele piece of hiking warm no wind and a lot of mosquitoes. But after Vålåstugan it became better less threes so more wind and even better no mosquitoes.

From we walkt to Gåsan, a nice piece of hiking very rugged I loved it. We Camped halfway.

In Gåsan we bouht a new map because we walked off the old one. We used a Lantmåteriets Fjållkarta (Z7 åre vålådalen bydalen) for the first leg. And for the second leg we use the map Jåmtlandsfjållen made bij Calazo. The map made by Calazo I liked better because it was printed on Tyvek. Otherwise there were no differences. The host in Gåsan was very nice and talked quite a lot with him.

Just a quick post about a little trip that I did last weekend. It will be manly pictures. The next installment about Vålådalen will follow sometime soon. I promise.

Sometime ago I read in Op Pad Magazine an article about the Urwaldsteig in Germany. The magazine called it a Norwegian fjord just a couple hours away. Being a scandianiava freak I could not resist it. So last friday I took the afternoon off and went for it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-7F5BX9iTWWSUeOGFEM798_L2JNvzumN7hZZGkXQV9W9w_E8b8LAQFEdrXE4nkX_YI3oJ4zx4OpeMqiGd-q-F0En8J-uTkOrsyzG3jtxz-PNBoRBCbOuaOappPiEIXwPNtT6ePP8TXn0/s400/IMG_3805.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644505259476993538" />

The Urwaldsteig is about 68 km long and runs around the artificial lake (the Edersee) . The article described it as a 6 day walk but I thought 2 and a bit must be possible if I go as light as possible and if I supercharged my days. I didn't make a gear list, maybe I will do that but when I put my bag on the scale it did weight about 5,1 kg's that included every thing.

So Friday afternoon I left work early and drove to Waldeck. There I parked the car met a friend and took some last liquid carbohydrates. After the beer disappeared, around seven we went out to find the track.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyUjGMbao1GhQ2z-VGCM38Yn4P-RansqAo0lOS5M4ER53ZfnqE0yt6SIinoWa-OT0B4m5OH_z_tlX77H-7gQGzCgaYBsAVbPVd0xz-m2v-IQyz8Ngb_8riO2xpQzvvw6w7nKsUnWdTxL8/s400/IMG_3753.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644158414780221330" />

After walking fore two hours the sun set and we went looking for a place to spend the night, a place with a view.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEO-liAow5HdANAi7tu9WdYhUAs3gMFuW-Iakw0K6ftbp3eRciRWFD7Ab6u8KFptr0b-GVmlbPOmtJ8r0QPD0hz1vl2WLJj04v2dPt1hZ2PF6EV8Zq-k_sNfF2vpTeepSsJhBSw_MDVxk/s400/IMG_3759.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644159315556601986" />

The next day I woke up at sunrise made some breakfast and relaxed, we left at nineish. My friend went for the car the short way and I went for the car the long way.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3bVxzIk8qAvJSbMAm3n_Re7H2btEpsZAlMycTndsfYvQ2vGdzmlcW6TzsViEsDd25D9bpq2KgJ7ONHcu3S8T2gtOEHjJdJ80UjHK8Kk5I37HeUC4YG2yCJZsOkP-oVc7_ZU7imgBzvOM/s400/IMG_3765.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644159616450919762" />

The route take you along side the lake and sometimes there are some Norwegain features like cairns (steenmannetjes)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivXQHOgW9vxV5TH4vRLZboeCznhqmsf2jftG1KjDpU1irzr_5kopP2wr3d7bNuz_HfOy10znHzeBP07wPXyIg4bXpdS_giOijlMxuAbd3aduoLx7UADAK40YVM1rOIqcrXxDi_XrSjhHg/s400/IMG_3760.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644503898665382162" />

But it was mainly beech forests. I'm affaird the term like a Norwegian Fjord was a bit too much honour for the Urwaldsteig.

It was quite strange to hike alone; I never did that abroad and never really went solo for more than a daytrip.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS0-GtPVd5Otp3jO5mb4_gFX-4uvqsJ0Fzlx1vapmgL1A5qwZzZSHy809-lU0SUhq4j8dFIy-OymRUeyYQOoJrp_ZFH14knBL6zN_U6UAcpORcE-zrm8uyGl1Q2zdn7cTf7MIa3xkxWEs/s400/IMG_3794.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644499296860038962" />

During the day it didn't really matter, you must pay a little bit more attention on your navigation, I did make two mistakes and it costed me two hours. But when you are alone and illegal in the forest at night it is quite different. Your mind starts to play games with you. To be honest sometime I thought to see flashlights and heard strange noises. It was probably the moon and some animal sounds that I couldn't place but still it was quite nerve-racking and it is hard to keep cool. It is than quite hard to get a good night sleep. But after quite a good night sleep given the circumstances I got awaken by my alarm clock at 6.30. After walking half an hour I stopped any eat my breakfast.

I didn't pay enough attention on my water supply and as a result of that I only had one litre of water from Saturday four o clock until Sunday noon and went the day time temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius it is fare from ideal. But by skipping dinner I managed it. But it is a thing I can’t recommend. There are streams but they are very small and I didn't trust them even I carried some purification tablets. Lesson learned for the next time, buy a better map one that shows springs and maybe carry some extra water. Another point was that the trail runs many through forests, so you can't refill your bottles in village or at people’s homes. The two cans of coke that I had in my car never tasted better!

Things that I learned:

“Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself” FDR

Don't walk 68km in your new shoes, the first 50km are oke but the last 18km will be killing and the blisters aren't a nice souvenir.

Don't thrust magazines!

Take enough water!

And covering 68 KM on an the German Autobahn will take less than 25 minutes.Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-33891307178205516082011-08-17T22:32:00.001+02:002011-08-17T23:24:53.235+02:00Back with a bangDear Reader/Dearest follower,

All seventeen of you. I'm so sorry. You must probably thought that I died during one of the treacherous descents of our beloved summits of the Dutch mountains. That wasn't the case, the case was that my new job takes a lot of travelling and I don't have so much free time any more. And the spare time that I have to go out I enjoy to the fullest and during the week I can't find the time or inspiration to write about it. I prefer to lie on the sofa reading, watching TV and drinking beer.

Time to leaf that bad behaviour behind and start writing again!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMHoxTSo6R3ycf-wsSixd1zne3tn7XRhgZFVGJvIXqxBhCZh_L4WUKpBysU383-iy_c1CEgu6HngaesYVaah4s4paDadUh6K09DvwBDzFAfFI3qCF6tHT8BQMx_cr0kg3ghhpA9vJi1jY/s400/IMG_3269.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641937026707711234" />

There is a wonderful time of the year, the working man calls it holiday. This year I really needed one badly. I didn't realy had time to plan and research it. So I did what every lazy b*stard would do and copied somebody else his trip. Not really the whole trip but parts of it. So how is better to steal ideas from then the guys from Nordiclightpacking The hiking kings of Scandinavia. So Vålådalen it would be.

Getting there easy, Ryanair, Dusseldorf (Weeze) to Smalland (Vaxjo)and than the night train to Undersaker. Easy. In Undersaker it gets harder. It's only 25 km to Vålådalen but the problem was that the buses go twice a day, one at 9.35 and the another at 17.40 and you need to call them in advance. The bus of 9.35 we missed because we didn't know you should call them. And waiting for 14 hours in a village where noting ever happens wasn't the best option. So we decide to hiked and hitched hiked to Vålådalen.

Observations made during hitchhiking, the bigger, the expensive the car the smaller the change they wil give you a ride. Old small cars will probably give you a ride. So be prepared fore long rides in a 3 doors Peugeot 106 with four adults and 2 big packs.

But finaly after all most 24 hours of travelling we arrived. So let the hiking begin.

We started off course at Vålådalen natures centre and from there headed for Lunndorrsstugorna. Because we had travelled for quite a while we decided to stop half way, near Gronvallen. We found a beautiful place near the river, we put the tent up, made small fire and went fore a swim. The benefit of swimming with your clothes on is that you will wash them at the same time. Down side of standing next to the river is that the Swedish air force is at full present there. Damm you mosquitoes!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbLvDcynuq0TPUjaevN7W8vI1D05UdMjeV-jfSk5KuJtVRo4FF3THA-2IMERlLDXOei0c6Dg9wqzaIragYOcSpER5_0uUzRWqLxjhG2uCX0uvt3yNi9Fz6IfW_eeBZ3PfNcEFeURycUI4/s400/IMG_3304.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641937702522252050" />

After the refreshing swim we made some dinner, Globetrotters Lamme Hoorn meal, pasta with lamb. It's was quite nice. After the dishes were done we called it a day and went to bed.

After quite a good night sleep we got up at 10 I believe, that was needed because the night before in the train we slept crap. Maybe the next time I will use the same tactics that i use in youth hostels, be the one to last in bed and make shore that you're piss drunk. That way you will get the most sleep.

The first part walking to Lunndorrsstugorna was quite hard in particular because it was warm and there wasn't any wind so short sleeves meant a all you can eat buffet fore the mosquitoes and long sleeves made you sweat like a pig. After a couple of hours walking we reached the three line and finally got some wind and to make it complete we had a great view and saw the Pyramidema.

That's it for now. Part two will follow shortly. It will certainly not takes months.Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-26527251191655564542011-02-19T12:55:00.015+01:002011-02-21T22:45:44.564+01:00Drei Waldkönigen.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRf-N-mwFpm3EgfM-WEQQsuUx_a_Vo1kFML3xTuzDMkfGoTWxgXh_rSGwYgxZQwG0A5Sa_HRxSDXq9pjf7sNghw62KcGeHxPUhmBF-EfTqnaV3Rq7DmydF1rRSz1SkNFtid0ieJQSuzG4/s400/IMG_3126.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575374038116967474" />
Last weekend two friends and me went to Waldkönigen, a small village near Daun in the Eifel. Just for a weekend, hiking, bush crafting being out and especially just getting a way from day to day life.

The plan? There wasn't one just taking the map, walk look on the map and walk for a bit more. East, South, North, West, going left near the Totenmaar and going right near the big lava pile. And running away from the open-cast that was raping the landscape.

After a day of rambling we where looking for a nice place to spend the night. We found a piece of pine forest near a spring. Well away from the forest roads. We made our camp behind the root ball of a Scottish pine, we used some dead lying wood to screen of our campsite.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSLwRXdM7aBmO1qVcUzKx6PBcoA9xh_7DmoMBxkyy0pKTDdhDVV73okkFL4yFHovg7g9y8DCRRUxn1KJUG32zKuKYxzErjCVKqxSX8_Kih0OUDpMkkxpb0Cm6OtCz5sHLUjC3hWf_NWDA/s400/IMG_3151.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575857015876991074" />

After we made camp I used my axe to take down a dead standing pine for fire wood. Because everything on the floor was to wet to burn. I finally bought an axe and I quite happy with it, is a Husqvarna all-round axe. You can compare it size wise with a Gransfors Forrest axe, only its costs half. I don't know much about axes but some that knows more about it has done a review here. The only thing I didn't realize when I ordered the Husqvarna was that is was so big and heavy. The first 45 cm fits nicely in my backpack but then there are still sticking 15 cm out. And people give you quite strange looks if your are walking trough town with an axe on your pack. And don't get me started if you will take it in public transport.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIx7F1Zy7pWiE8B1Pw8SL6ZlcD3bJvdLo1dff8vDqdLb6OD_TOOHZ-WaAyR6udnotJdAZU6urykqanYYhFWYgdSC6PFyhTVmxmtgJSEjrvopwTxRbTdYIEfgNAwQR_KmDPLZbqzVKitl4/s400/IMG_3135.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575861732299922978" />

After we completed our campsite its was time to light the fire and made dinner. We also used all are water so we needed to boil the water before we could safely drink it. After we filled all our bottles I went to bed, the night before I had a party and slept only for three hours. It was the first night that I used my new tarp, the backpackinglight.co.uk solo tarp that I got from Thomas. The tarp is a prefect size solo tarp and it's a lot lighter than my old builder's tarp that I used before. So thank you very much Thomas!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj7x4_SxlSAN2sD5Ix_hdfennuPU8nljH49ybGtxtEutPWGxWisAyAueeiyVhSobwjxS7p6WoJt9e55JXHRmlNVtrAhyBiBJFhzJzFceWvJBVaJ8PP2MP0_ghZCgsFlDL9XgV6DDxqL_I/s400/IMG_3149.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575884042302969554" />

After a good night sleep we woke up by the barking of a deer. So if a Forrester would ask we where just some ramblers who got up very early and we started this morning in the neighbouring village.

When we finished our breakfast we where going for the long way home.

A long time ago, between Christmas Eve and New Years Day we had a couple of days with decend snow. Where I live it means something between 15 and 20 centimetres. I all ready can people hear laughing that isn't snow that is noting. But still for Dutch standards is a lot. It was even enough to get my langlauf or backcountry skiing gear out. I never know how it’s called.

My skiing gear consists of the following parts and cost my less than 30 euros. It’s many used gear or surplus gear.

Shoes:
I got a pair of Alico full leather boots it is an older model similar to the current model skate. They where brand new and only costed my €10. I got them for my locale army surplus store. Maybe it’s not the ideal boot for longer trips because when they get wet and they will it will be hard to get them dry. But I hope I can solve this whit a Vapor Barrier Liner (VBL).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPu1d3Ke49lkUfIKD257_FV_VyjB_ii1HZFH0xfJtMjPDScEn7UyavHqIVxrskGoVx1owJSnA1iouIT4ceWKyJTw5wxjXWSozp7OOZBrwKB9KMsHR7JJ3DiqLesjwrB3aqEQL4aAis1jU/s400/IMG_3048.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562150055403627730" />

Binding:
I got a pair of Rottafela bindings I thought you can’t go wrong whit those I believe the model is the Super Telemark 75mm. They are simple and what I have read about it very reliable. I got the bindings witch a pair of 190 cm KARHU BARENKRALLE skies for a locale garage sale for the mere some of € 8,50.

The Skies:
The pair of Karhu skies where to short fore me. I believe the skies should be 15 cm longer then you are. Being 183 I needed skies that should be 200 cm. So I went to the used goods store and found there a pair of Fischer Crow trainee skies. After some negotiations I got them for € 8, 50.

The Poles:
The length of the poles is determined also by your length, they should be fitted under your armpit. The poles I had where too short I used the old walking stick from my father. But if it's starts snowing again I will get some nice new ones from Swix witch are very reasonably priced at € 29, 95.

How did it perform?
The set did perform very well, I noticed that it goes al lot faster then snowshoeing only the problem was that I didn't mastered the technique. So the small pieces downhill ended often on the floor.
So to master the technique I'm currently following a course in langlaufen. But living in the Netherlands and having only three days of snow in a year this course is held at loipe made of brushes. Which isn’t that good? But still it better then noting.

My instructor wasn't too nice about my set and called it a piece of antique, especially the shoes. And told me that they can't be used in prepared loipes in Austria I told him I didn't care about prepared loipes in Austria and that my goal is Scandinavia, the Hardangervidda to be precise.

To complement my course, I also ordered the following book "Allen & Mike's Really Cool Backcountry Ski Book", a review can be found here. This was my first "light" weight winter hike and I have made a lot of mistakes but learned a whole lot more. You can read about it on the internet but the realty is always different.

So the trip, it was quite hard to get to Den Haag, because of the snowfall. People were driving 50km on the highway. But when we arrived in Den Haag it almost stopped snowing. So we parked the car and packed our back. In the car we where debating if we should take the snow shovel or not. I taught it was quite funny so I strapped it on my pack. But it proofed quite useful.

So we walked to Scheveningen and started our hike at the pier of Scheveningen.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7TYYO8kPuNUvmnzIsT2yN3YHjQWfFYfvL1P-3m2r91KkTla1lUuewD38ARvjKyEmCkiGIk7c7aZtAh1u3I91hm_TicTFVsQNVxPVDR2DKHVly2AjuokaeyH6n3oU1cKhlYocJyL9F02s/s400/IMG_2969.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556781161562166674" />
After a small section on the beach we continue our way through the dunes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB8m8AP3j0i2vn-8egoLcjlAJ2S_RC1buan8Q6fK6e0iTZtM30H4iDdt1EJUSFtQ8_iLtH7_Rk-X-NTt8DmfV2Eb3IJjHEXlh504KZODYl8xrDQKZjN52JrfUXPTomwoAN9NtpahsdhiQ/s400/IMG_2978.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556786635606213410" />
In the dunes hiking became more difficultbecause of the snow drifts witch made you sink in the snow knee deep. I have never and I mean never weight all my gear. Most people start by doing that but not me. So from today I break the ban and start weighting all my gear and start making gear lists.

This weekend I'm going to hike a piece of the North Sea Trail. I'm starting in Den Haag and I will see how far I get. It will be a two day walk and I'm hoping to cover 25-35 kilometres.

I included my packing list in this post, as well as an explanation why I carry certain stuff.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 341px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvtOqkF7nWM1GH4iEtx065gJGwRlo2KTGC_Szk40m1HczFW8SnStj2RcfTqdsJrEe-IzqwDNHYsE43iKEFOOA5fwdSFiYpcXMYmfsXNFU0QMCqYFvkZhpKK9zWvNBMvbHcs19gnF8gBds/s400/Gearlist+Winter+2010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551703518598994002" />

Backpack Golite Jam2: I removed the foambackplate and use the BW folding sleeping pad as a frame. The NeoAir I use for comfort.
Sleeping Bag Marmot Couloir is a bit of an over kill, the weather forecast is minus 5. But this is the only sleeping bag I have that will keep me warm. I have bought it for a trip to Norway.

The Six Moons Design Lunar Solo replaces my Coleman Rigel X2 tent. The Lunar solo I bought on Marktplaats (the Dutch EBay) and used it a couple of nights and I like it better then the Coleman. It isn't bigger but I like the fact that it is higher and that it has a small vestibule.
The Carbon pole I need to put up the tent because I don't use walking sticks.

The North Face Women's Venture Pants. I bought this rain pants sometime ago. I tried them on in the store and it fits fine. When I got home I found out that is was the women’s model.

Quechua Soft Shell Bionnassay. I got those at the Decathlon. The Jacket was €60 and the trousers €50. They are not the lightest soft shells but at that price there are the best. Clever design and very durable. I have them for over a year and they are like new. Washed them a couple of times and they still shed water like on day one. When I'm wearing my soft shell clothing I almost never use my rain gear.

Map and Compass you don't really needs those but I like to have a map with me and I use the mirror on the compass to put my contact in and out.

The reason I packed a saw is that I am hoping to make a fire and a saw is very convenient when your are gathering wood.

If you have any questions or comments about my list. Feel free to ask them.Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-40563322090306093642010-12-04T09:35:00.006+01:002010-12-04T11:57:24.855+01:00The Alaska Experiment & Out of the Wild.With a couple of centimetres of snow the Dutch society comes to a hold. Like Monday when we had the longest traffic jam ever. And yesterday the KNMI, the Dutch national weather forecasting service issued a code orange. Not because of the World Cup bid because the weather would be awful. Nothing happened and on the same day the code orange got repealed. I wonder how other country's cope with snow or winter for that matter.

So on advice of Her Majesty's weather forecasting’s service I stayed home and watched the Alaska Experiment. The story is quite easy a group of nine people gets dropped in the Alaskan wilderness and they have to survive and hike out. The funny part is when you seen what they take with them. Nothing says Ultra light more then a Dutch oven!!

Out of the wild is the second season of the Alaska Experiment the first season is harder to find. But still very nice. The first season is more bush craft then hiking oriented because the people stay in their shelters for three months and you see them preparing for winter.

And for all the Dutch and Belgian followers een fijne Sinterklaas (morgen) en om alvast in de stemming te komen deze klassieker.Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-28750576541623533292010-11-12T15:04:00.014+01:002010-11-21T16:49:43.878+01:00Seven ways to pass the time of dayBeing unemployed for al most 2 weeks really gets under my skin sometimes so my seven was to past the time of day:

One

Sleeping and getting out of bed.

Two

Go for a run, check my mail, check my favourite websites for news and stuff and check sites like Monsterboard for jobs.

Three

Doing things that should be done a long time a go. So here it goes: My review of the Optimus Crux Lite & Terra Solo Cooking System.

Many many moons ago I participate in het Optimus pass around organised by Hendrik of Hiking in Finland. After a fantastic review by Joe from Thunder In The Night there isn’t much I can add to it but anyway here are my thoughts on it.

The Optimus Crux Lite: What can you say about a stove? It works the way it should. The Optimus stove is faster then and lighter than the stove I was used to, the Markill Hotshot. But I found it harder to let the Optimus stove simmer, it was full on or off. Maybe it was because I wasn’t used to the Optimus. In responding I also didn’t like the control switch.

The Dutch magazine Op Pad reviewed some gas stoves some time ago and called the Optimus Crux as the test winner. You can find the movie which contain the results here.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsrbT9ARM9PETRJa_y0MLp_U6H7AKQt2RtXpd6MQNof_7eTWGyatS60JXF6cFAxfMUFMKZQMI8WgPBunHVi-CUwCbC5LMTkdzCJPfD-dQOKHqi7QxVry2rmtLbZZTuu6VqTscASqxEg-Q/s320/IMG_2671.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541783398907190578" />

The Terra Solo Cooking System: I found the pot too small for my needs, if you only use it to boill water it should be fine, but I used it to cook a cheap 5 minute pasta meal from the supermarket which requires 0,5 litres of water and it won’t fit in one go. The pot is designed to fit a 110 gram gas cartridge, but I found it quit hard to find a 110 gram cartridge, my locale outdoor store only sells 220 or bigger. I can’t blame the pot for that but. But still. The bigger cartrigdes are also cheaper to use and it reduce your waste. The lid of the pot is a nice options but I don’t think somebody will ever use it as a fry pan because it is way to small. I argee which Joe and I think it would be better if they make the pot bigger and dropp the fry pan lid.

So if it was the reall world and it was my own money I wouldn’t buy the set. For the same amount of money I would get Primus Litech one litre pot. It is a bit heavier but also bigger. I think it would be more usefull. Or save a bit longer and buy instead of the Primus Litech a titanium pot. The stove is fine I think you must getting used to it.

Four

Planning weekend trips, thinking about thru hiking the Pieterpad, the original Dutch long distance hiking trail and making and modifying my gear. Examples and trip reports will follow...

Five

Check mail, check my favourite websites for news and stuff and check sites like Monsterboard for jobs. Again.

Six

Cooking, since I'm home a cook a lot. Not only fancy things like Boeuf Bourgoin. But I'm also creative with couscous for when I'm out on the trail. And making other trail foods likes snacks and non couscous dinners.

Seven

watching this clip on YouTube and waiting...

Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-39965170554210658742010-10-23T19:01:00.004+02:002010-10-23T23:53:56.226+02:00GlobeWelt Köln 2010Last weekend I went to the Globetrotters Globewelt in Köln. But anyway I had great time visiting the different stands. I didn’t go to any of the presentations, my German isn’t that good. But at the show I got a lot of information and inspiration for new trips. After visiting the Globewelt. We went to the Globetrotter store in Köln, six floor filled whit only outdoor gear. It was a gear junkie heaven. I had to controle myself and my credit card. And the end of the day I only bought A Primus MicronStove Ti that was on offer and a folding Nalgene bottle.

So all in all it was a great day indoor outdoor.Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-10202575702941370542010-10-22T23:05:00.006+02:002010-10-22T23:25:32.619+02:00Primus was here!?Sometimes ago I submitted the photo below on the Primus website.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj83bu6AaeYLXO4_Y2rd0Mk9aM3Ptqlt9MzyvjWc3F1A33dbvGReAswynHIgES5Y_DxKU4doVPtKau64ZAUKFcGaOiE6KMAmDaJZcYprwgPXnG7aqmOrpBwe6wEir0p5tB-OCNittm7ZqU/s400/IMG_2695.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5530983286886472098" />

And yesterday I received this message in the mail:

"Hi,
Thank you for your picture! The first day our goal was Deventer and the second day we would end in Olst. The first day we walked 17 km and the second day a little less only 13 km.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnE6agExVMibVhUAhXC6AYxAsSpn0RpvAhltRpE-tNjMxgFxbaFLp1IAD29pOsYldml9PkHB_M_23oNKUAog1Eoz81WO0fllg1Ne9vJPxEGOd_hTK7cYZUkqURIr-h1tG1J-Ds_bxLGAY/s320/IMG_2786.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528592819115870754" />

For this hiked I used my "new" backpack the Golite Jam2 (2009 model). It was the first time that I used for a weekend hike. During my holiday I used it a lot. And I must admit I'm quite keen with it. It easily fits everything for a weekend and for a daypack it also works. The only downside when using it as a daypack is the roll closure it isn't very convenient if you just need something fast from your pack. And when using it on my bicycle it gets very sweaty but that is because the pack is to close to the back. But that is oke because the jam2 wasn't designed with that intention. The Only thing I really dislike about it is the useless logos on it. I spend a lot of money getting my equipment lighter and those morons make it heavier by putting al lot op patches on it saying Golite. So I immediately removed those. But overall I really like this pack and its versatility.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC5sySLORMCX6ceni0O2zsuoZACn4t6GJvXKK_uF7q2wdUy7oZVAOa5ZnicSF15rdhcQ-CDBRcV-2IghInlZG3JoXL1YeOF41DOaF_Fq2oLYfoJTyBsFSWNME4cxF0R6nJqDfS4B4rb34/s320/IMG_2795.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528593386712797122" />

Sleeping: I used my Lafuma warm and light 600 down bag with the polycotton liner. I wasn't the warmest night I ever spend. But the conditions weren’t optimal, It was very moist and I maybe had a bit too much to drink. But using my Bergans of Norway down jacket I managed it alright. I slept on my NeoAir and a thin foam mat, the foam mat also doubled as my frame fore my pack because I removed its original frame.
Too sleep under: I had hoped to use my tarp but staying on a campsite near the town I opt fore my Coleman Rigel X2, a "two" person tent weighing 980 grams. It is a very small and low single wall tent, But apart from condensation it kept me dry and more important it kept my stuff out of sight.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkB8JC-RQ9HZw-_GU3KzcUCh0j_odSsI4J4PA-ALElHICW_4kDVmffyull7Vmc8zq8El3EgCrLEnZceNceM9OueZJltLsf88SNRFIw-0vfL7lGJqVpH2l0X1XejTl61KehNprN7TxeP28/s320/IMG_2820.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528593864540871058" />

Clothing: The weather was very changeable, some short shower and periods with sun. So I decided to test my soft-shell clothing and I didn't bring any rain protection. I must say I worked very well. The clothing kept my dry during the showers and it dried really fast when the sun came throw. So undoubtedly a winner and a keeper!
Shoes: I used my Inov8 330 Terrocs with smart wool socks. They were great. I have used and abused my shoes a lot during my time in Denmark, Sweden and Germany and they are still as new. Because of the rain the track was very wet and the Terrocs a very open I got wet feet. It was my own fault because I had some Sealskinz socks in my pack but was too lazy the get them out, so by the end of the weekend I had wrinkly feet. And the last 4 km's walking form the train station to home wasn't the nicest journey I ever had.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRc758NRhtQqQh_DBQe37pzdXUWn1RJ9hdcN9XSqd-koMAFVkx_I4Wht6tt1j46rPeotQl-8HwPzwYrot5Ua5AycxpteM_pzLpufGmBc4pFjJ5rnyNxiguxjn1HZXQmBhr_J6H2juwF2U/s320/IMG_2836.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5528594372706053778" />

The walk was quite nice, we walked through the meadows and many of the dikes. The plan was to start in Ystad and park the car there and hike the entire Österlenleden. But when we arrived in Ystad the campsite where we had hoped to park the car was way too crowed and there wasn't a possibilty to park the car. The main reason to choice Ystad as a starting point was that we are a big fan of the Wallander books by Henning Mankell. So after one day in Ystad and after the beachside barbeque we left Ystad and drove to the town of Tomelilla.

In Tomelilla we found a nice and quiet camp side and a nice place to park the car. From Tomelilla we started our hike of the Österlenleden, we took the bus to the coastal town of Simrishamm. There we officially started our hike with section 5 to Kivik witch was a 18 km hike. Just as the booklet said "The fifth section offers walking with virtually everything-flat beaches, wild cliffs with woodland an elements of both the picturesque and exotic." It also offerd al long boring part with too much asplath witch strangely the booklet didn't mentioned. But it also offered my first experience with hiking on a beach.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUXilvVptQALTl_uhyr4JrqYg5IUWM-yWUs7RcvrB7ZWigDRNUKI9YhGIapxp-HTWgDJK8kSLX2PucHoRWZusil-pH1SMllHiaz5hs_eQ1EiEUQk94s4bTXTYGiVPswDcS33GdHdDu0RA/s320/P1020520.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5517973660500083234" />

For the first day a 18 km walk was quite a lot and we were glad when we were at the campsite in Kivik.

After a good night sleep we where ready for the second day en we had planned to walk te section between Kivik and Vantalangan. At Vantalängan there was a shelter with a well, a fireplace and an wc. It was a nice section with a lot of different sceneries. We started at beach and ended in the forest. After a couple of kilometres of beach there was a cabin of the STF and we had a cup of coffee and some Bullar. after the little break we continued our walk to Vantalangan. The route took us though pastures and rolling hills. The track was very well marked only sometimes in the fields the cattle had knocked the marked polls down. But if that was the occasion we turned to the map. During the walk to Vantalängan the weather was constantly changing, form sun to rain and very thing in between. When the sun disappeared I wore my wind shirt, I must say that I used my wind shirt a lot, even during the rain.

When we arrived in Vantalängan we put up the tent and made a fire.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNGm_ozU-4aMJiK28sanrKjHvGeta2FuRFlcG0D7JVH1ogsLNkj2EscTrb4muhGOoyo_8Mw6UQSYPvp69m3Lv9TJXppzPojWfMtTIsTpgfYB1eM5qqXiQzRtcDa_3Z4xhqQ-pB1btYp8s/s320/P1020541.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519057768656458098" />

The well at Vantalängan didn’t provide us with the best water.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB0nIqJoVA4p6JTgylgStS6AkRoIEFfF-ucCNYcBX3eKk4Ns5CCsilj1EuuwQ5BrleFXFi6J9VtXcCJpyK0f65PcgKlTJuw5_bC9xa6OTc6oumJFcGshU5jBzTvG_beCzhwtyfYBWyZaw/s320/P1020539.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519060911622832178" />

The left bottle is how the water looked after we had boiled and treated it. So after check with the locals (we didn't have a map, we only had the map of the Skaneleden which offers only the sections and doesn't give an overview of the area) we started to walk to Tomilla it was about 18 km but we all ready walked 7km to get from Heinge to Lövestands. If I look through my window it feels more like autumn. I'm now back for 2 weeks and working and it feels like I didn't went.

But I did. The first week of my summer holiday I spend in the Danish mountains, near Mons Klint

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_-vMTDSZqYTXWIJkw7Sxjpm-5w2z3m4QG9B3462WhowIgj_4C1TDxhFbpIJ1HkVpIxejUf9noqD61XcoC093i8xvs-NG0IuK2c-9CyNXukw3xUbk6Ql5g4fgNfiyNVxfXZRgxU9EaTkA/s320/IMG_2703.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509425872570455458" />

The second week I spend in Sweden hiking a section of the Skaneleden which was nice but a bit boring, too much Asphalt and I didn't really get the back to nature feel like I experienced on my last trips in Norway and Sweden. It was too civilized, shelters with fireplaces and a woodsupply and even a loo!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuyfal25VX8MJGrCkQm1E-mh8wQXJfEX9XSjYVsKYgvqnoqMs4mGjmRRHHA1uZPt_LztNY0ywRmtsd-Tp5uZHntG0U1nLNgoqGh372BzQr2DK1zbyeVHuBQsit204UBxjzc5j7qY-S49I/s320/P1020557.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509428230650062386" />

The last week of my holiday I went to Berlin and the Harz because the weather expectations in Sweden where poor. Berlin is very nice city and I really can recommend it. The only downside I could find a proper outdoor store. Only Jack Wolfskin stores which are too German. The goal was the hike 25 km a day and to sleep in the open air.

When I got at the starting point I soon found out that I was the only one who used a daypack for this overnighter.

I used a Vaude Allalin 24 as pack, not the most suited pack but this is the one I got.

To sleep I used a Dutch army bivi bag, witch is great, its made of Gore-Tex so it breaths very well. But the major down side is it weight more than a kilo!! I have a Coleman 2 person tent that weighs less. I'm looking to replace the bivibag with a Alpkit Hunka or a homemade.
Inside the bivibag i used a Lafuma warm and light 600 down bag. The sleeping bag is excellent. I have used this bag at the Fjallraven Classic in 2008 and last year on the Hadangarvidda and count less weekend trips and never waked up because I was cold. Inside the sleeping bag I using a poly cotton sleeping bag liner. I will replace this liner very soon for a silk one. And I slept on my short Neo Air. Under neat my Neo Air I used a closed cell foam mat because I'm afraid to puncture my Neo air. I sound stupid I know. The closed cell foam mat is also nice luxury during breaks so I'm willing to carry it with me.

For footwear I used my Inov8 330 terrocs. Which were great. The only downside was that my feet goy really hot and I got a heat rash on my left feet. I blame the socks not the shoes. I will try different socks next time and I hope the rash was a one time event. The Inov8 are really comfy and this was the first time I walked great distance in them.
Clothing, I was wearing noting special cheap zip off trousers and a merino wool base layer. When I got windy or colder I used my soft-shell jacket.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCJGjX_a3I_H-YTyNGy7_3_U4PFrP58kcI2TAgShcVCiCeahs67lKd88N6xx9coJIpDG79FWaIEzBUzux-PeSoDJ900orwoFCxTsH8aCtwVhLAC2XOxJ1rjKhAaWKoDS4OJWxOxuUvb0/s320/IMG_2673.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5483460587705803954" />Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-39923970928995743032010-06-08T20:43:00.000+02:002010-06-11T19:09:46.476+02:00Biesbosch Trip reportThe last weekend of May some me and some friends went for a canoe trip to the Biesbosch.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsPt1m1p6VmcyRO4_V-2pRIALFMH1KBYyIqYk409MRfJhNsW3KmWlngyh78UyJk6lgtGlYar6bfXHeXBAASeUOdbODgLWTUoaUKtw1Np4zoe1RB6j3VdSLllDeysmLW03bqhaoMYH9Rmk/s320/P1100576.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480487398261679618" />

"The Biesbosch is one of the largest national parks of the Netherlands and one of the last freshwater tide areas in Europe. The Biesbosch consists of a rather large network of rivers and smaller and larger creeks with islands. The vegetation is mostly willow forests, although wet grasslands and fields of reed are common as well. The Biesbosch is an important wetland area for waterfowl and has a rich flora and fauna. It is especially important for migrating geese". Thank you wikipedia!

But we didn't go for the geese migration but we went for the beavers. Hmm that sounds kind of wrong. We did spot some beavers but every time we went for the camera the beavers disappeared.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPbCZxmAdiCDybkwrc6nn135UiR18nmr3-KhUg8NaZsEXhUbiAm7-MHVVKWfmH6s7WTzvNQ9U9Ye9VSt3FLHWAPiKPxvse1dtxcMvnCphCy78qQcnR2N85_Q8csaH-W3N3PWnew4qnd0g/s320/P1100573.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480488509665692626" />
This is the best picture of a beaver we got.

But thankfully we say a lot of proof that they where realy there.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjplBnsNR93gAI9RAqgun6DeTqGCu7HA60DlQUJ4Fjl-W-e0yHiWvwHy9ImwK0V0PTuOf9m1WMq7fxaPPU7zlqSdeXVhvn23qaZZmpVUy8d3bg-dhMtSVTonn1CO3Ny8c1ucoNe-4C6YQM/s320/P1100608.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480489514376303666" />

A great benefit of a canoe is that you can take a lot of gear and you don’t need to carry it on your back. So after a long day of paddling there where some nice cold beers and a nice bottle of wine to accompany the dinner. Later around the campfire there was a some Beerenburg.

The next day it was time to paddle home.

The Biesbosch is nice national park with al lot of small creeks and I definitely will go back someday.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk3ROPC1AeIDmRkBEKNYqSGXOK2cPVRAAncK1oxCnTJ_rTn7VP6yi-ck9RZ5Fb8VglvdfsJEb1iHYncdnUlI5HpHC-L7ZIX4cxd5lnK95_Ro0s-r3zk7M8AnO_0cJ_PfYGRWa3PJpNIv8/s320/P1100603.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5480492504443436162" />Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-49592667861747383492010-05-09T21:22:00.000+02:002010-05-09T22:05:02.348+02:00Little update.Time flies when your are have fun. It has been more then a month ago since my last post. I have been busy with work and study, but I also have found some time for a little escape to Monschau (Germany)and enjoyed a short holiday over there. And I have planned a little trip for this weekend.

And least but not last I bought some new gear, a soft-shell jacket and trousers, a neo air sleeping matt (with arrived the day I came home for my trip to Germany). I will post a little review when I have used them a bit more.

My woodstove project is currently on hold but I have been working on a old axe.

I will be writing about it here over the next few days or weeks.

CheersNibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2463693354649924996.post-74946503080791509592010-04-03T20:11:00.000+02:002010-04-03T20:29:50.226+02:00Woodgas stoveBeing Dutch you don't going to spend nearly 70 euro's for a Bushcooker or even 115 dollars (CAD) for a Bushbuddy that is in fact just a wood burning stove (I know it more fuel efficient than a normal woodstove). Even when after purchase the fuel will be free for ever!

So I decided to make my own stove form some old cans. The internet is full with manuels on how to build a stove like a Bushbuddy or a Bushcooker. Google it and you will find it. So I did.

To cut the crap, I suspect mine isn’t that good, it was more a wood smoker, the complete garden disappeared in a big cloud of smoke. So I will modify it and try again.

Pictures will follow after the smoke is gone!!!

Btw if you are to lazy to Google here is a good link

Happy Easter !Nibehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219621165715079535noreply@blogger.com0
